Leicestershire have signed seamer Yadvinder Singh on a short-term professional contract ahead of the 2026 County Championship season.
The 30-year-old right-arm quick, who was released by Worcestershire at the end of the 2025 season, will be available for the opening month of the campaign. He has spent the winter training with the Leicestershire squad at Grace Road, where he impressed coaches with both his skill and attitude.
Yadvinder’s previous opportunities at Worcestershire were limited, but he made a strong impression on debut in 2024 against Surrey. In that match, he returned figures of 4 for 103, including the key wickets of Rory Burns and Dom Sibley.
His route into professional cricket came through the South Asian Cricket Academy (SACA), an initiative aimed at providing opportunities for players from under-represented communities. He first featured for SACA in 2022, shortly after the programme was established.
Leicestershire head coach Alfonso Thomas said the signing adds valuable depth to the squad, particularly with injuries affecting their seam-bowling resources early in the season.
Yadvinder expressed his enthusiasm for the opportunity, stating he is eager to contribute and make an impact during his initial stint. SACA managing director Tom Brown also welcomed the move, highlighting that consistent opportunities could help Yadvinder establish himself at the professional level.
The deal offers Yadvinder a chance to revive his county career and potentially earn a longer-term contract, while Leicestershire gain a motivated seamer looking to make the most of a fresh start.
