Vaibhav Sooryavanshi will have a separate dressing room during India’s upcoming England tour because of safeguarding regulations for players under 16, as mandated by the England and Wales Cricket Board and the International Cricket Council.
The 15-year-old prodigy can join team meetings and access the main dressing room during matches, but he must change separately at all five venues in England. The rule is designed to ensure additional protection and supervision for minors participating in senior-level international sport.
The ECB confirmed that special safeguarding assessments are being conducted at every venue in coordination with India’s team management. An added layer of support comes from Sooryavanshi’s parents, who will travel with him throughout the tour and stay in the same hotel—an exception to usual team protocol due to his age.
Sooryavanshi has already gained exposure to senior dressing rooms through domestic cricket, the Indian Premier League, and India A. If he debuts in Ireland or England, he will become India’s youngest men’s international debutant, surpassing the record of Sachin Tendulkar.
India will first play two T20Is against Ireland men's national cricket team in Belfast before heading to England for a five-match T20I series followed by three ODIs.
