Sree Charani becomes the first India bowler past 800 points in the women's T20I rankings

Sree Charani has become the first India bowler to pass 800 rating points in the ICC Women's T20I rankings after her four-wicket haul in the Asia Cup final

India's Asia Cup title in Dubai has reshaped the top of the ICC Women's T20I Player Rankings, and the clearest gain belongs to Sree Charani. The left-arm spinner has moved further clear at the head of the list for T20I bowlers and, in doing so, has gone where no India bowler had been before.

Charani's rating of 804 is the second-highest figure the women's T20I bowling list has recorded, behind only the 806 of Australia seamer Megan Schutt. Three bowlers in all have reached 800.

She is not the only India player to climb on the latest update. Deepti Sharma has risen four places to second among T20I bowlers, and Shafali Verma has gained ground on both the batting and the all-rounder lists.

Four wickets in the final

India beat Sri Lanka by 72 runs at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium to take an eighth Asia Cup, more than any other side has won.

Charani took four wickets in that title decider and finished the eight-team tournament with 12, the haul that carried her past the 800-point mark.

She had first gone to the top of the bowling rankings in June, during the T20 World Cup, and the Dubai fortnight has turned a narrow lead into a clear one.

The eight-team tournament was played in Dubai, and the rankings update that followed it was published on Tuesday.

Third bowler past 800

The 800-point barrier has been crossed only three times in the history of the women's T20I bowling rankings. Schutt sits at the head of that all-time list on 806, Charani follows on 804 and England's Sophie Ecclestone is next on 802.

The distance to the rest is the measure of it. South Africa's Shabnim Ismail is fourth on the all-time list with 781 and Australia's Shelley Nitschke fifth with 780.

Four rating points now separate Charani from the highest mark the list has ever held.

Deepti Sharma completes an India one-two

Deepti Sharma was the leading wicket-taker of the tournament with 14 wickets, and her rise of four places takes her to second among T20I bowlers.

Her best work came in the final, where she returned 3-19 against Sri Lanka as India defended their total.

The two results together give India the top two places on the rankings for women's T20I bowlers, with Charani's closest challenger now her own team-mate.

Shafali Verma rises on two lists

Shafali Verma was the most productive batter of India's campaign with 236 runs at 47.20, a return that lifts her one place to sixth among T20I batters.

Her 68 in the final against Sri Lanka was the innings that set the match up for India.

The same tournament moved her five spots up the all-rounder rankings, to 15th.

Australia's Beth Mooney and Georgia Voll continue to hold the top two positions on the batting list.

Bangladesh bowlers among the other movers

Bangladesh's attack made ground across the bowling table. Marufa Akter rose three rungs to equal 15th and Rabeya Khan three places to 18th.

Sultana Khatun climbed five places to 32nd and Fahima Khatun six to 49th.

Among the batters, Nigar Sultana moved up one place and Imesha Dulani two, both to equal 20th, with Sharmin Akhter Supta up three to equal 40th and Shawaal Zulfiqar up four to 45th.

India's next T20I assignment will decide whether the four-point gap at the top of the all-time list survives the rest of the year.
