Shaun Tait has resigned from his role as Bangladesh's fast-bowling coach with immediate effect, ending a 12-month stint with the national side.
Tait said he made the decision to spend more time with his young family after a demanding year of full-time international cricket across formats.“My 12 months with the BCB and the Bangladesh national team was fulfilling,” Tait told ESPNcricinfo. “I really enjoyed working with the players and built strong relationships with the fast-bowling group and the wider cricket community in Bangladesh.”
The former Australian speedster joined the setup in May 2025 on a contract that was originally scheduled to run until November 2027. He had replaced former New Zealand allrounder Andre Adams in the position.
During his tenure, Bangladesh’s pace attack emerged as one of the side’s biggest strengths, highlighted by a memorable 2-0 Test series win over Pakistan national cricket team. Tait had repeatedly backed Bangladesh’s quick bowlers, even stating in a recent interview that fast bowling had become the team’s greatest asset.
Although stepping away from the full-time national role, Tait hinted that he could return to Bangladesh cricket in the future through franchise opportunities such as the Bangladesh Premier League.“I don't think this is a closed door on my time in the country,” he said. “But for now, my family needs more of my time.”
The Bangladesh Cricket Board is reportedly considering former fast bowler Talha Jubair as a temporary replacement ahead of the upcoming white-ball series against Australia national cricket team, which begins on June 9 in Dhaka.
