Sai Sudharsan Ton Powers India A Fightback; Padikkal Near Century in Galle

B Sai Sudharsan marked his return in style with an unbeaten 104, while Devdutt Padikkal finished agonizingly short of a hundred on 94* as India A cricket team seized control of the 2nd unofficial Test against Sri Lanka A cricket team.

At stumps on Day 2, India A were 247/1, trailing Sri Lanka A’s first-innings total of 366 by just 119 runs.

Sudharsan’s Strong Comeback

After retiring hurt in the first four-day match, Sai Sudharsan delivered a statement innings on his return.

He looked fluent from the start, mixing solid defense with elegant strokeplay, and remained unbeaten at stumps with a superb century.

His knock featured:

• Strong off-side strokeplay
• Excellent strike rotation
• Calm control against spin

The left-hander once again showed why he is regarded as one of India’s brightest red-ball prospects.

Padikkal Provides Perfect Support

Devdutt Padikkal complemented Sudharsan brilliantly with a composed 94 not out.

The pair stitched together an unbroken 181-run partnership for the second wicket, steadily erasing Sri Lanka A’s advantage.

Padikkal combined patience with timing, particularly strong off the back foot.

Early Momentum from Mokhade

India A got off to a positive start through:

The opening stand added 66 runs, with Mokhade scoring a brisk 38 before falling to offspinner Keshara Nuwantha.

That breakthrough, however, only brought Padikkal to the crease—and India A never looked back.

Arachchige’s Century Anchored Sri Lanka A

Earlier in the day, Sri Lanka A resumed at 288/5 and were guided by captain Sahan Arachchige, who scored a fighting 127.

His innings helped the hosts reach 366, but India A bowlers prevented the total from getting out of hand.
