Rashid Khan Credits Discipline and Mental Strength for IPL 2026 Revival

Rashid Khan says handling difficult days with the same calmness as successful ones has been the key to rediscovering his best form during IPL 2026, following another match-winning display for Gujarat Titans against Chennai Super Kings.

Rashid starred with figures of 3 for 18 in GT’s dominant victory that secured the franchise a top-two finish in the league stage. The Afghan spinner dismantled CSK’s lower middle order and climbed to fourth in the Purple Cap standings, continuing a remarkable comeback season after two relatively underwhelming IPL campaigns.

Despite being hit for two sixes during his spell, Rashid remained composed and quickly adjusted his plans. He explained that in high-scoring games, bowlers cannot expect dot-ball pressure alone to work and must instead focus on making boundary-hitting difficult for batters through disciplined execution.

The veteran spinner revealed that consistency in line and length remains the foundation of his game, regardless of results. Rashid said he never changes his training methods after bad performances and instead focuses on learning from mistakes by studying pitch maps and identifying areas where his execution slipped.

He reflected on one of the toughest moments of his career — conceding 110 runs against England cricket team during the 2019 ODI World Cup — saying the experience taught him the importance of staying mentally balanced during setbacks. According to Rashid, poor performances often provide the biggest lessons for growth.

After managing only nine wickets in IPL 2025, Rashid has bounced back strongly this season with 19 wickets and a significantly improved economy rate. His resurgence has mirrored Gujarat Titans’ revival, with the team once again emerging as one of the strongest sides in the tournament.

Rashid also praised GT’s simple and calm approach throughout the season, insisting the team’s focus has remained on executing processes rather than obsessing over league standings. Since joining the IPL in 2022, Gujarat Titans have established themselves as one of the competition’s most consistent franchises, and Rashid’s return to peak form has played a major role in that success.
