Nimasha Meepage Replaces Injured Dewmi Vihanga in Sri Lanka’s Asia Cup Squad

Sri Lanka have made one change to their squad for the Women’s T20 Asia Cup, with left-arm spinner Nimasha Meepage replacing all-rounder Dewmi Vihanga.

Vihanga has been ruled out after suffering a right-knee injury during a practice match. She did not travel with the Sri Lankan squad to the UAE and will now have to wait for her T20I debut.

Meepage, who made her T20I debut in December 2025, has played nine T20Is for Sri Lanka, taking six wickets at an average of 38.33 and an economy rate of 7.66. She has also represented Sri Lanka 14 times across formats.

The remainder of Sri Lanka’s squad remains unchanged, with Chamari Athapaththu continuing as captain and Harshitha Samarawickrama serving as vice-captain.

The defending champions are placed in Group B alongside Bangladesh, Indonesia and the UAE. Sri Lanka will begin their title defence against the UAE on August 29.

Sri Lanka won the previous Women’s T20 Asia Cup in 2024, defeating India in the final in Dambulla.
