Gaby Lewis will lead Ireland women's cricket team at the upcoming ICC Women's T20 World Cup in England, despite being ruled out of the team’s preparatory tri-series against Pakistan and West Indies due to a leg injury.

Lewis, Ireland’s leading batter and one of the side’s most experienced players, has been rested for the home tri-series in Clontarf as she continues her recovery. However, selectors have retained faith in her leadership by appointing her captain for the global tournament, marking her first time leading Ireland at a major ICC event.

In Lewis’ absence, vice-captain Orla Prendergast will take charge during the tri-series. Prendergast has become a crucial figure for Ireland in recent seasons, contributing both with the bat and ball, and is currently ranked among the top allrounders in women’s T20 internationals.
