East Zone Storm into Duleep Trophy Semi-Finals with Massive Innings Win

East Zone produced a dominant all-round performance to defeat North East Zone by an innings and 210 runs in the Duleep Trophy quarter-final at the BCCI Centre of Excellence Ground 2 in Bengaluru.

After being put under early pressure at 25 for 2 and 128 for 5, East Zone fought back strongly thanks to outstanding centuries from Shahbaz Ahmed and Sudip Kumar Gharami. Shahbaz smashed a career-best 167, while Gharami contributed 146, helping East Zone post a formidable 467.

North East Zone struggled in both innings. They were bowled out for just 111 in their first innings, with Abhijit Sarkar claiming 5 for 20. Forced to follow on, they managed 146 in their second innings despite a late 39-run partnership between Akash Chaudhary and Pheiroijam Jotin.

Anukul Roy then finished the job with an impressive 5 for 37, while Shahbaz also chipped in with three wickets across the match.

The victory sends East Zone into the Duleep Trophy semi-finals, where they will face Central Zone, last season's champions, from August 30.
