Chattogram has been removed as a host venue for the remainder of the Bangladesh Premier League season, with organisers opting to relocate upcoming matches in order to ensure smoother operations and scheduling.
The decision was taken by the Bangladesh Cricket Board after reviewing logistical and operational challenges associated with continuing games at the venue. While specific details were not elaborated publicly, officials indicated that the move was made in the broader interest of maintaining the tournament’s flow and avoiding further disruptions.
Chattogram had already faced issues earlier in the season, including scheduling complications and concerns around match-day readiness. Dropping the venue allows the BCB to consolidate fixtures at fewer locations, easing travel demands on teams and support staff during a tightly packed tournament window.
For franchises, the change brings clarity after a period of uncertainty. Revised schedules and alternative venues are expected to be communicated promptly, allowing teams to plan training, recovery, and logistics without last-minute adjustments. From a competitive standpoint, organisers stressed that the relocation would not affect the integrity of the league.
The decision is a setback for cricket fans in Chattogram, who have traditionally been strong supporters of the BPL and have regularly turned out in large numbers. However, the board emphasised that fan considerations were balanced against the practical need to deliver the tournament without further interruption.
Within the context of the current BPL season, the move reflects a flexible approach by administrators, prioritising stability over strict adherence to the original venue plan. Similar adjustments have been made in past editions of the league when circumstances demanded swift action.
As the BPL progresses towards its latter stages, the focus now shifts to ensuring consistent match operations and a clear path to the playoffs. While Chattogram’s exclusion is a notable change, organisers remain confident that the tournament will conclude smoothly, with revised venues providing a more controlled and reliable environment for the remaining fixtures.
